Nestled in 15 acres of tranquil rainforest just 35km north-west of Brisbane, Turkey’s Nest Rainforest Cottage is a perfect escape from the bustle of city life, close to the city, yet a world away. You will feel yourself relax as you drive through Brisbane Forest Park to the tranquil village of Mount Glorious.

Awake to the sound of whip birds and a magnificent view through majestic hoop pines and rose gums to the rainforest below. Mount Glorious is a bird-watcher’s paradise with over 80 varieties of birds seen on the mountain. Relax on the verandah as you watch crimson rosellas and rainbow lorikeets (which feed on the verandah), red-browed finches, kookaburras, bowerbirds, cat birds and, of course, brush turkeys. You may even catch a glimpse of a dingo or a bandicoot.

To make the most of your rainforest experience, why not pack a picnic lunch and spend a quiet afternoon in the seclusion of our own private rainforest. Take a walk past groves of palms and lichen-covered rocks, to the magnificent towering fig tree.

The original cottage on the property, White Gum Cottage is a former forestry cabin, and as such has a delightful rustic charm, combined with all the modern conveniences you would expect to make your stay comfortable.

From the bedroom your view is through towering gums to the rainforest below. In summer the verandah is an ideal place to watch the wide variety of birds that inhabit the surrounding bush. On chilly winter nights there is a cosy wood combustion heater, a CD player and range of CDs, a selection of books and games, and electric blankets.

Situated in the D’Aguilar Range 620m above sea level, Mt Glorious offers welcome relief from the summer heat (nights can get quite cool even in summer – be sure to pack a jumper). In winter, as mists waft through the rainforest, warm yourself by the fireplace, with a glass of wine, a good book and of course our complimentary port.

Turkey’s Nest is perfect for a romantic escape, or a family weekend of bushwalking.

The village of Mt Glorious offers daytime dining at Maiala Tea House, Mt Glorious Restaurant Food With A View and the Elm Haus Cafe.

Should you feel more energetic you can explore the walks of nearby Maiala National Park (1km from Turkey's Nest). Walks range from 1.9km to 8km return.

The Pat Boddington Art Studio at 1866 Mt Glorious Rd features artworks by local artists.

Graham Radford's Phoenix Sculpture Garden at 59 Fahey Rd features a range of sculptures by this local artist in a magnificent bush garden setting.

Turkey's Nest is situated on 15 acres, most of which is rainforest. Guests are invited to explore the gardens of the upper 3 acres or walk down the bush track to the rainforest.

The cottage contains two bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen size bed. The second bedroom has a single bed and a single trundle bed. An additional folding bed is available on request. The queen bed has an electric blanket. Hot water bottles are provided for the single beds. All linen is provided.
