The Shores Holiday Apartments are located on Blacks Beach, just 15 kms north of Mackay's City Centre.

We are 10 minutes drive from Mt Pleasant Shopping Centre, and 5 minutes from Mackay Golf club (Ask Peter or Kerryn about the FREE golf), the Northern Beaches Bowls Club, and the Northern Leagues Club.

A bakery, minimart, hairdresser, Thai Restaurant, and Steakhouse are a five minute walk from The Shores Holiday Apartments. The local Hotel, and an A La Carte Restaurant are both a 10 minute walk.

All of our units are spacious, 2 bedrooms, fully self contained, with free cable television, DVD/Video players, direct dial phones, and dial up internet connections.

The townhouse apartments are two storeys. The bedrooms, bathrooms, separate toilet and covered balcony are upstairs and the kitchen, living/dining area, internal laundry, second toilet and covered patio are located downstairs.

Our villas are low set apartments, with similar features to the townhouses. We have Standard Villa's and Beachfront Villa's that are located closer to the beach.

For those who enjoy a little extra luxury, we also offer Deluxe Villa's which feature a corner spa bath, separate shower, dishwasher, wall oven and bench cooktop, surround sound system, as well as all the standard features.

All units are serviced weekly.

The apartments are nestled within a lush tropical garden fronting onto 6 kms of flat sandy beach - ideal for jogging, fishing or a leisurely walk.

Between the apartments and the beach is the large recreational area where you will find all our outdoor facilities, including our full size flood lite tennis court, volleyball net, 2 swimming pools, a toddlers pool and a spa pool.

Our office has fax and photocopying facilities, and can book tours as well.

The unique style of accommodation at The Shores satisfies the requirements of our many varied guests, whether it be a holiday, business trip or perhaps relocting permanently to Mackay, our "Home away from home" atmosphere is perfect.

Blacks Beach is a beautiful piece of coastline and an ideal spot to relax. The beach is dotted with tropical palms and has awe inspiring views of the Pacific Ocean, at the same time being secluded and quiet.

The 6 kilometre coast line is flat and makes it very easy to walk, jog, play or just lie on the beach in between swims. The more enthusiastic go kite surfing.

Fishing is also a great escape and at Blacks Beach, Bream and Whiting can be caught off the beach.

The Eimeo Hotel set high on a cliff is worth a visit for the spectacular views out to the islands. Just breathtaking.

The Pioneer Valley marks the gateway to one of Queensland's most spectacular wilderness areas with Eungella National Park, the longest and oldest stretch of subtropical rainforest in Australia. Their are numerous walks to choose from at throughout the park.

Broken River near Eungella is the ideal place to view the shy platypus or head for fresh water swimming holes at Finch Hatton Gorge. Many animals and plant species found here are unique - they are found literally nowhere else in the world.

Cape Hillshorough National Park offers you the chance to see possums and native birds, kangaroos wallabies and bush turkeys on the beach, and take in some great walks through the 816 hectare national park.

Mackay City offers everything you could want from a bustling regional centre. Try the City Heart, Canelands, or Mt Pleasant for a huge variety of shops.

The Pioneer River flows past the city's historical buildings and rows of palm trees fringe the main street. The River Walk is a must.

Hay Point & Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminals are worth the drive. The viewing platform over the site gives visitors a first hand impression of the mining industry and its impact on our region. An educational experience.

Head to the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsunday Islands. Day tours leave from Mackay that link up with Island Cruises, Reef Cruises and Scenic Flights.

All units have two bedrooms.

One bedroom has a queen size bed and the second bedroom has two single beds.

All Standard Villas, Beachfront Villas and Deluxe Villas and a number of Townhouses have a double sofa bed in the lounge room that will sleep two.

All linen is provided with the exception of beach towels.
