Fauna Australia Wildlife Retreat
Editors Choice Fauna Australia Wildlife Retreat, The Great Ocean Road, Victoria
Fauna Australia Wildlife Retreat is located midway between all the main attractions of The Great Ocean Road and The Otways.
What makes Fauna Australia Wildlife Retreat different?
We are the only place in the world offering guests the unique opportunity to stay on a private wildlife park with such a great variety of Australian wildlife – without the crowds. We are not open to the general public, so visitors can relax and enjoy our large collection of friendly native wildlife at their leisure.
Many of the animals are an important part of endangered breeding programs, and as such most are bred in captivity meaning that they are very friendly and used to people.
Added to this, your hosts have tertiary qualifications in Zoology and Ecotourism and conduct tours of the vast array of nocturnal species on a spotlight tour, ensuring close contact.
People who have travelled to Australia, or know someone who has, will realise that getting close to Australian wildlife can be difficult unless you visit a zoo. Fauna Australia is much more than accommodation, more personal than a zoo, and will get you so much closer than in the wild! And yes we do have friendly koalas for that important photo to take back home!
Other local Attractions There are a range of other attractions close by inlcuding the Twelve Apostles (30 mins), Johanna Beach (10 mins), Melba Gully Rainforest Walk and glow-worms (5 mins), Otway Fly Treetop Walk (15 mins), Triplet Falls (15 mins), Apollo Bay (40 mins) and Port Campbell (40 mins)
Accommodation We only have two cottages for accommodation, so the experience is both intimate and private. Both Wombat Cottage and Kangaroo Unit are situated within the boundary of the wildlife park.
Wombat Cottage is self contained and sleeps two to four people. It has its own private yard where you can find small wallabies and wombats. Separate bathroom, bedroom and living area. Washing machine and clothes dryer. Queen sized bed, double futon sofabed, TV, DVD and Video players.
Kangaroo Unit is self contained and sleeps up to eight people. It is open plan with a separate bathroom (shower only), double bed, 2 singles, sturdy bunk and double futon sofabed. It also has a TV and DVD player.
